Endless Customization Possibilities for Cute Soap Favors!

Making soap favors was not my original intent when I started up my soap business and began selling on Etsy in 2012. I loved making very creative, artisan designs in the soap before it had a chance to harden. Waiting the necessary hours to unmold the soap and gently slice each piece was torture at times because I so wanted to see the intricate designs in each piece of soap. Thankfully, my business became successful so it paid for itself and I could continue to enjoy making all kinds of fun designs in my soap!

One of my customers wanted shower soap favors so I decided to make some for her. It was painstakingly difficult, designing a custom label on the computer, making all the little soap wrappers by hand, cutting the soaps smaller, and wrapping all of them neatly and pretty enough for a party. Since she loved them so much, I took pictures and put an ad up on Etsy for customized shower soap favors. Soon, that was what was outselling all the full-sized bars of soap!

I looked for new paint programs and found ways to streamline making labels. I purchased new equipment. I experimented with different types of paper to make the labels from. A new guillotine paper cutter hugely simplified cutting uniform labels. I found ways to make a label that would fit just about any occasion and could be customized to coordinate with their particular colors, theme, special wording, favorite scents of soaps, and packaging. The possibilities were endless!

Soon, businesses contacted me for soap favors with their logo imprinted on each soap label. Most chose an assortment of scents which gave their customers a selection to choose from. I keep a fresh stock of about 20 different soap scents, each with their own pretty, artisan design that I've personally made up to reflect their particular essence.

Early each Spring, young ladies and Mothers of the Bride contact me to make customized shower and wedding soap favors for their memorable event. I have such fun interacting with all of them, feeling the excitement & joy in being able to partake in a small way, and making something that coordinates so well with their shower or wedding.

My guest soaps are also in high demand for Bed & Breakfasts, little guest houses, personal bathrooms (in decorative baskets), ladies retreats, birthday parties, anniversary parties, clubs, personal yachts, meetings, and special events. They make such a thoughtful gift for people attending in that they don't melt, they're healthy for the skin, and they are customized to perfectly express the wishes of the host. I've even had grandmothers purchase guest-sized, customized soaps for their grandchildren because they're such a perfect size to fit little hands.

Its amazing to me how a person may put all their efforts into a certain venture and yet the thing that is the most profitable is a branch off of the main path. I believe the moral to my little story is to always keep your mind and creativeness open to whatever direction God may lead you to. You may make all kinds of plans and goals but miss the BIG opportunity if you close your mind to a slightly different way of doing things.
